Europalia 2023 is dedicated to Georgia. From 27/10/2023 to 28/02/2024, the exhibition "Georgia: A Story of Encounters" can be visited at the Art & History Museum in Brussels.

The exhibition shows that Georgia exported wine and base metals early on. As a reminder, trade also enables cultural exchange and much more.

The EU is Georgia’s first trading partner. According to Tradexplorer.be, in terms of European exports, Germany, Romania and Italy lead the way (Belgium ranks 12th). However, on the other hand, Belgium is Georgia’s second European importer (9% of European imports) far behind Bulgaria (50%).

Belgium mainly exports transport equipment (30%), chemicals (16%), foodstuffs (12,5%) and optical instruments (12%). In terms of imports, Belgium welcomes Georgian textiles (57,5%), mineral products (32,5%), chemicals (5%) and base metals (2,5%).  

According to Trademap.org, Georgian imports count on the EU (24,5%), Türkiye (20,5%), Russia (17%) and China (11%). On the other hand, the EU is the first client (20%), followed by China (18%), Russia (14%), Türkiye (9%) and the USA (7%).
