In 2023, Belgium was the 12th largest exporter of goods in the world and the 14th largest importer. The value of both Belgian and world trade in goods declined from the previous year, partly due to falling prices for commodities such as oil and gas. Meanwhile, trade in services in Belgium and around the world increased for the third year in a row as spending on travel and other services, such as digitally delivered services, continued to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
